Merry Christmas!

We have had some great miracles this last week. Since we have gotten here we have been looking for opportunities to serve people and we have had several people say they will reach out to us but more incredible was an opportunity for an unplanned service. We were sitting on a bench when we saw a guy, named Joseph, unloading his van. We offered to help and he was very grateful for the service. It was a lot of things and it was just going to be him and his wife unloading it all. I'll say it worked some muscles in me that I haven't used as much for a little bit. It felt good to be serving though. He offered us some juice after and when returning the glasses we gave him our number for when he has to load everything back up. (A little background is that they are moving out but they had to load some things back up because the ships stopped loading for the holidays. So they will resume and have to load it all back in a week or so.)  We also had a few other less active members of the

Freeport, Grand Bahamas

Well family and friends, I am in the Bahamas! It's been pretty crazy and I am excited to serve here.  First off we flew in on Wednesday and both of us are new: we had no food, and a less than clean apartment. So you know how that works. We spend a good amount of time shopping (which was an adventure in itself), cleaning, and getting to know the island. Freeport is "big" for an island in the Bahamas but there is very little going on here. It's very, very, very quiet but it's actually really nice. Finding new people has been a whole new ballgame because there's not many people on the streets. So we are back to door knocking! Now this is not the most fun thing to do, but when you don't know the members, don't know the area, and have very little (to no) people being taught ... you have to do something. I'm here in Freeport with Elder Samuels! He was my last AP, a past zone leader, and a good friend so we are so excited to be serving together! We both

Mission tour with Elder Marcus B. Nash!

Such an amazing week! Half of it was dedicated to traveling the island for the Mission Tour with Elder Marcus B. Nash. He is a general authority and helps a lot with missionary work. Elder Stone and I got to travel to Constant Springs on Thursday to have several meetings with him and the mission. I was very impressed with the genuine love he had for each of us. I could see it in the very way he conducted the meetings. He didn't have a set agenda of what need to be instructed and moved on but asked the missionary leaders, like Elder Stone and I, first what we thought the missionaries needed to hear and then went from there. Even when talking with the whole mission he would ask us what questions we had. He did have three rules for these Q and As. 1. When you ask questions you are exercising faith, and when you exercise faith you are blessed, so ask questions. 2. Remember who your question is being directed to, a servant of the Lord.  3. Ask with the intent to act.  One of the

I love missionary work

The beginning of the week was a little different from every other week I've had so far. Monday night we found out we were moving out of our apartment on Tuesday! So Tuesday we moved, having to take multiple trips to the Elders apartment in Montego Bay. We were still able to find and talk with people along the way, though! Wednesday we had a walk-through of the apartment we just left with Sister Kitras, the mission housing coordinator, and the landlady. As the landlady was saying what was missing from the apartment, we realized we accidentally moved some of the apartment's things to Montego Bay!! We thought those items were the mission's! So then we were asked to get it back there as soon as possible, that meant a little more driving. After those couple of days it had been a while since we had sat down and taught someone.  That is probably what made the rest of the week so good! Our first lesson in the week was with Ms. Mills and she is just the sweetest. The next few days

Go Brazil!

This week started off great with Zone Conference! I loved it!  Talked a lot about being a disciple of Jesus Christ. We can all be disciples as we are disciplined. Peter is a great example of becoming a true disciple of Christ. After Christ's death and resurrection, he and other disciples went back to fishing. Christ called them in and asked Peter if he loved Him. Of course Peter said yes but after a few times of asking Christ told him to then feed His sheep. After this exchange, Peter became the disciple of Jesus Christ that God wanted him to be. He worked miracles and spread the Gospel wherever he went. We can all do this as we recognize our own boats and nets that we need to leave behind so we can feed His sheep.  After Zone Conference we had to take an Elder to the hospital and while 4 of us were there, we all got bombarded with people wanting to contend with us. However once we got past those people we did find the few who were much more humble and nicer to talk to.  The next

You Winsome, you lose some (Also happy Thanksgiving!)

Transfers was exciting! Lots of moving around, and thankfully few hiccups. One missionary missed their bus but that worked out all good. Another got dropped off at the wrong place but by the end of Tuesday everyone was safe in their areas!  Elder Stone is so much fun! One of our first days together we were driving in down town Falmouth and there was a tighter squeeze on this one way road. A guy runs up worried about his car that was parked where it probably shouldn't and Elder Stone says, "Don't worry, I'm a Nascar driver". The guy answered, "Oh shoot, do your ting, do your ting". It was a lot funnier in the moment, haha.   We got booted in town for parking in a permit parking spot... oops. We had to go pull out money to pay for it but we were able to meet and talk with a lady in line for the bank named Winsome. She was really sweet and definitely made the day much, much better.   An absolute blessing that happened this week was meeting Brother Smi
