Another week in Mandeville

Image
This week was pretty eventful! One evening we had a member who recently returned from a mission join us in our companionship study, which me and my companion have every evening, and we did teaching role plays with him. Haha, missionaries are pretty familiar with roleplays and usually are not fond of them. It was fun with him, though, and we learned a lot! That same member also brought a friend to church! We were pretty excited to teach her after church and, oh boy, did she have questions to ask and then her own answers to give to every one. I had begun to question a bit what  her purpose of asking those questions was, but we just listened and tried to really understand where she is at with her conversion and relationship with God. We are hopeful for her!🙏  Here is one of the many things I've learned this week as well. I need to be careful playing sports... I also had a pretty bummed ankle from being slide-tackled playing football ⚽️. Watch out though, I've been getting pretty

Wet and cool Mandeville

Alright well it rains more here in Mandeville than in May Pen so that's been a treat this week! I think just about everyday it's dumped rain and I no longer have a truck to take shelter in. Honestly, it has been a lot of fun and reminds me of past areas and times on my mission.  The Branch here is way fun! We had Friday  night activities and we played football for a bit. I was already sore from walking and then football did me over on the tiredness. I definitely slept well that night. Fun story though was that I slipped in the mud hard but popped back up and got around a kid with the ball and now some of the branch kids call me superman or Messi Jr. I haven't told them I'm actually not good at football yet 🤫 We also have this active, recently returned missionary who went out teaching with us and that was way sweet. He took us to teach some of his friends and some members in the area. He shared a lot of tips and actually said that he came back to Jamaica 3 weeks ago bec

Lots of mixed feelings this week...some of you may know but it's like being with an amazing group of friends for 4 months, experiencing the good and bad with them, and then leaving to go to the next group. Yep, I'm moving one last time but only half an hour away to join Elder Wilson in Mandeville. It's crazy because we were on an exchange just a few weeks ago!  This week has been one to remember though! Thankfully the rain has calmed down and we got to get to work. There was one lesson we had this week that absolutely blew my mind! There was this family with a mom and two daughters. One daughter is in another denomination and told us when she first met us that she didn't want to listen, then when we gave her a Book of Mormon, she said that she would never read the book. Well, during the lesson we had this last time she read the Title Page, the Introduction, the testimonies of Joseph Smith and the 3 and 8 Witnesses and the brief explanation of the Book of Mormon. Now t

More exchanges, more driving, more work 💪not a bad week!

Pretty much encompasses my entire week but that wouldn't be much fun to read so I'll full in the gaps.  A lot of people have the flu or denge fever right now  🤧 . A few of our members and friends have been sick since last week. Everyone else we have been going by every other day and for some people that's been really good! There are two families that's we've gone by a few times, the Williams, and the Samuels. The Williams we met on exchanges and they seem very interested. They live a little ways away in an area that probably hasn't seen missionaries in a LONG time! Then the Samuel's are probably the same thing but didn't seem too interested, at first, to learn about the Church, but as they graciously listened have gradually become more interested. I'm really grateful for these people I've gotten to meet.  We had District P Day as well this week and it was good to see all of the 12 Elders we got together. A really solid group of guys all tryi

General Conference!!!

I officially stayed awake for all 9 hours of the General Conference broadcast! For some it may not be a big accomplishment, and for others you may not even know what that is. Well it has been my fourth one on my mission so I hope by now I've explained it well enough but it's a weekend broadcast where we get to hear from Prophets and Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and its way cool! Don't worry about missing any of it because in a week or so we can all watch it back over whenever. I love General Conference!  We were able to have a few friends and less active members meet us at the church to watch the broadcast and that was great. I'll say not the most reverent at times, but we are glad they got to see it!  We also got to have interviews with our Mission President, President Odonkor. I love him and his wife, most of us call her Mommy, so much and it's always good to see them and the best when they help us out and give counsel. I've
