Wow, I am in Jamaica

Well we had transfers this last Tuesday (the 16th) and it was a great one. It was sad to leave the Elders and people in Yallahs. Even though it was a shorter time than I thought, I loved it there. God knows where we are meant to be. At transfers, I got to see many familiar faces and I got to see Elder Schneider!   What was crazy that happened though is that we were supposed to get 16 new missionaries but they didn't come! So I was sent to Port Antonio with my temporary companion, Elder Rice. On the drive up to Port Antonio I saw what I had always expected Jamaica to be like 8 months ago! There was so much green, raining on and off, and it was just a forest. Then when we got to our apartment, just outside of town, it is across the street from the ocean! It is just beautiful here! Sadly, the apartment was an absolute mess so Elder Rice and I had to spend a large amount of time making it home.    Elder Rice and I had one day thinking it was just us two until we got the news th

Surprise!

Wow, what a week! We got Elder Goddard back on Tuesday so we are back in a trio.  We have had some people really progressing and Naomi came to church! It was really exciting to see her there because she really wants to be baptized and she doesn't want to until she is able to come to church every Sunday. So she is working on it. I guess I should get right to the surprise. I am getting transferred! Yes I was told a month ago that I would be here for a while but the Lord has other plans for me! Those plans are for me to go to Port Antonio and train a new missionary. So we both won't know anything about the area and my companion will be fresh into the mission and fresh into Jamaica!! It is going to be a blast and I am so excited to take on this new adventure!   Besides the transfer news there hasn't been a whole lot. It has been good with those we are teaching and the progress they are making. All of our friends in Yallahs will be up to two different Elders because Elder Drisco

Exchanges with the Elders in Dalvey were fun this week. Elder Scoresby came with Elder Goddard and I in Yallahs. We had a lot of lessons planned but by the time we walked out to our farthest one, they all cancelled. Well, we figured we were here for a reason so we started walking back, talking to everyone. About half way we met an inactive member and got his number and then also met our new friend Omar! The sisters in Kingston sent us his contact information because he works in Kingston and they met him there but he lives in Yallahs. When we called the number they gave, it was the wrong number! That was last week and this week we bumped into him on the road and were able to get to know him and get his number. Crazy how plans being cancelled can be God's plan. Jah know! A few days later Elder Goddard was picked up by the Zone Leaders because he has been sharing a lot of medical concerns. So they took him to the hospital and he will be staying there. Now we are back to a two-man comp

Making phone calls and seeing old friends!

This week really started off with a bang of rain all of Tuesday ... haha! So that means that all of our appointments fell through. However, since we still had the whole day and nothing to do, we decided to start calling people who used to be taught by missionaries. We did 7 hours of straight phone calls! We made over 100 calls and somehow we had fun doing it, haha. We actually were able to talk to many cool people and we completely filled the rest of our evening this week with lessons over the phone. It was unfortunate to not meet with any of our friends outside that day, but it did not stop us from getting to work! Then finally Elder Scoresby came! He was my companion in the MTC. He is going to Dalvey with Elder Kanan. Then Elder Goddard who used to be in Dalvey is now joining Elder Driscoll and I in a trio. It has been good to see Elder Scoresby.  I also got to see my last Zone Leader, Elder Samuels! He is now the Assistant to the Mission President so I will also get to see him more
