1st baptismal interview!!!

First off, being sick on the mission is not fun but there is not much you can do about it. There were also a few mishaps with the other Elders in the district. They used to have a car because their area is an hour and a half away when there is good traffic but because a senior couple needed a car to get to their area, the Elders lost their truck. Now they are taxiing with a member in the branch but there have been a lot of privileges lost with losing the car. It has definitely made us all appreciate the things we do have.   We got to go on another exchange with the Zone Leaders and this time Elder West came to Yallahs with me. We walked and talked all day and it looks like we will be continuing to do that. One thing I have noticed with this area is that you can just walk around all day, talk to people all day, and very easily come home having no new people to teach.  We have been trying hard to state our purpose and what work we are here to do but a  lot of people just really like to

I would say that this week was very good. It started off with exchanges with the Zone Leaders in Kingston and I went to their area with Elder Dyson. He is from England and played a lot of volleyball before the mission so we had fun talking. In Kingston they have a lot of work they are doing. They have so many people they are teaching but the thing is that they spent no time walking around to find them. Kingston is a large city so a lot of people reach out to them through Facebook. While we, in Yallahs, go out and walk all day long to find people to teach, haha. So a day driving around in Kingston was a good break for my legs.   After exchanges, Elder Driscoll and I were planning on going to this one area where we knew a few people lived but accidently took the taxi up too far and then it started dumping rain. We were soaked and disappointed but we thought we may as well go around trying to talk to people because we were already there. As we made our way back down the road we found 3 pe

So yes, I have moved out of Junction and am now on the other side of the Island. My companion and I, with the other Elders in the apartment, cover the entire parish of Saint Thomas, so we have a good bit of area to cover. There is one main road that goes through our area and we tend to just walk up and down this road and there are a lot of people to talk to. To say the least, we have a lot of good work ahead! Now my new companion is Elder Driscoll and he is so fun! We also have Elders Kanan and Englestead and they are great missionaries as well. All 4 four of us live in the same apartment, "the Yallah's Palace'', and it has been a great first week in a 4 Elder apartment. It is very different compared to a 2 Elder apartment and I will say that my mini basketball and hoop gets used a lot more now, haha.   Yallahs is definitely different from Junction. A lot more tin roofs, potholes, and dust. However they also have a lot more mangoes!! I have had a lot of mangoes this pa

This week has been great! There has been a lot of change, and a lot of the spirit.    First we met with our friend Sharene, who lives with Sister Gayle. We had a great lesson with her and she has committed to be baptized on the 24th of June!!! It was a great lesson to start the week off with and she really is looking forward to learning more and beginning to change her life.    We also got to meet with Martha and Jenna Lee, who we are working towards getting baptized as well. Their parents are members so they know a good amount of what we teach but this Thursday we were teaching Martha about the 10 commandments and throughout the lesson more and more kids kept joining! They were just coming from everywhere and by the end of the lesson we were teaching 9 kids! After the lesson one little girl asked if we wanted to see her magic trick and she showed it to us. I may have then proceeded to show them how I can pull off my finger and some other little tricks with a coin and they we
