Full Belly

Early this week I had exchanges with Elder Bishop in Buff Bay and Buff Bay is a tough area. It's a small town and a half an hour taxi to it with not much along the way. In about an hour of walking around I saw all of Buff Bay. We did meet a few cool people and it was a really good exchange.  Soon after we had our district all come to the town of Port Antonio and walk around finding for 2 hours. I was with Elder Provost and we all talked to many people during that time. I say the biggest thing I learned from it was to try and be Christlike  while meeting people. Everyone's busy and has other things to do but we are trying to share a message that will change their lives. So the easiest way to show them that is to show that we do care about them and their lives because they are the ones we are trying to help.    Sunday I was the most full I have been on my mission so far. I mean I am still feeling it right now haha. We had a great sacrament meeting with many members making it back

Seeing some old familiar faces

Early this week we had a cool meeting with our friend Herrol. We were just walking in town when we stopped and talked with him about the Restoration. After we shared a message with him, he told us that he knows of the church and actually has a cousin that goes! He seemed really interested so we set time to go the next day to visit him. When we got there to visit his cousin, Sister Burke, she walks out of the shop right behind us and decides to join the lesson!! It was a big tender mercy because it gave Herrol the inspiration to do all he can to make it to church this last Sunday and he made it!! We got to go on really short exchanges with the APs this week and it was really good. I was lucky enough to get to have about an hour with each one and I always get to see how much is still there for me to learn.   This week I got to try some more foods! We got roasted conch, yes the giant sea snail, and some red pea soup, both of which were really good. Then we got to try some Chinese moon pie

Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding

This week we got to talk with some amazing members of the branch here. Sister Dixon was the first new member we were able to reach out to this week and she is amazing! We asked her about her conversion story and she said that she saw the missionaries one day and went up to talk with them, they answered a question that she had had on her mind for years about the gospel, and was baptized 3 weeks later! We need to find more people like her.  Then later that day we were trying to meet with another member but she said she was at work. Well, we weren't letting her go that easily so we asked where she works and she said she started her first day at Fresco. That's the supermarket we buy our groceries from!! It also turns out that 3 other members work there as well, so we visited them all at work, haha.   A cool tender mercy we saw this week was when we got a number from a friend we were going to start teaching. Later that day when we went to call the number it was not assigned! A

Guess who is back?!

This week we had our first district council with all 3 companionships that cover the one branch in Port Antonio. I have never had more than me and my companion serve in the same branch! So when we all got to meet and make plans for what work we need to do, it was very inspiring. The main focus is on helping to strengthen the members that are here. They are all amazing people that haven't had a reminder of what's important in a little bit. So with that we have met with a lot of members this week. We have been calling them, meeting with them, and sharing messages with them and I hope they don't think it is too much yet, haha. One thing I have been trying to do is always invite and encourage people to achieve some sort of goal.    Guess who's back?! President Odonkor came to church in Port Antonio and will be coming for the next 5 to 6 weeks. It was an amazing time to see the branch progress in Yallahs and now I am so excited to see it happen in Port Antonio.    One neat e
