The red dirt farming is back

Image
It was a good week! We had lots of meetings and a lot of new insights to add to the work we are doing. It's always funny when you realize how little you really know haha. One of those meetings was a self reliance training that us missionaries were invited to. We learned about the resources the church has here in Jamaica and how we can help others we meet to gain access to these resources. We have a self-reliance specialist in the branch, Sister Rowe, and she is so strong in her testimony and the blessings of being self reliant. We went to visit her and some of her family at her home and she showed us the ducks, bunnies, and everything being raised in the  backyard. You can be pretty creative in life with the skills and talents you have.    I've realized that there are a lot of things here reminding me about my first area. I don't know if it's because I was out of the country for 6 months or adjusting to patwah again but I think it's also the red dirt and farming

Alright, sorry about last week

So I am back in Jamaica! I have missed it here, that's for sure. Being in the culture and being around the people has brought back a lot of good feelings. I feel like my adjustment hasn't been too bad but we did come back and forth between Islands a lot for the last few months. I have a new companion and his name is Elder Blackwood! He is from Yallahs and actually decided to serve his mission when I was there in his home branch. He was a great youth when I was there last year and it's so cool to be training him into his mission. He was originally assigned to the Ivory Coast, Africa Mission but will be here for 6 weeks before he goes to the MTC in Ghana.  We have been really focusing on teaching the people the good word of God. Teaching from the scriptures to everyone recently has brought a lot of miracles. This one Sister we have met with was able to invite her friend to church after a lesson we had and then shared with us that she wasn't active in church herself but

Back to Jamaica!

This one will be real short but I am back in Jamaica! I'm sad to leave but excited to be back. It's going to be a really good week but because I travelled today I do not have much time. Love you all!  -Elder Jensen

The work has been real!

This last week has been the most work I've done in a week! It was tough and physically, mentally, and spiritually draining and I definitely think we pushed ourselves a little over the top. Mosiah 4:27 is my go to with finding the balance between too much and too little. From Tuesday to Friday it was from lesson to lesson, constantly biking and constantly a little late. The cool thing about it is that we've been able to find a lot of people along the way! I'll go through a few people we met and lessons we had. First was with Brother Mackey! Now he isn't a member yet, but is excited to be. His wife is a member and we got to tell him about the temple and the work that we get to do there. He was especially excited when we shared with him the family history work we do to help our ancestors. He has several family members he was close with that have passed that he wants to do their work for them. Look out for more on a Brother Mackey in the future!  We had an appointment w
