Elder Brody Jensen

Woah lots of changes this week! Don't worry I am still with Elder Gajadhar. We had 3 exchanges this week so Elder Gajadhar got to see a lot of different areas and I got to take several other Elders with me in May Pen. First was with Elder Tekurio, who is in Hopeton right now. He is from Tahiti and really is a missionary of faith. We had a lesson with Sobrina Whyte, someone we have been teaching for a while and had her son baptized last year. She was so so so prepared for this lesson! She had some principles that she didn't agree with along with that she didn't feel she was good enough to take the step. Well the Sunday prior she had a confirmation of the truth and felt that she needed to come to Christ as she is and that He would do the rest. She is on date for baptism for the 28th now! We had our zone conference with Elder Cordon, one of our area seventies. Dang, did I learn a whole lot! I was talking with my mission president a little bit on the side after the mission tour, and he asked about what I had learned. Well, I feel like I need to apply everything more than ever. One of the things he talked about is just understanding the doctrine even more than we do right now. In short, let's say we can't give a scripture for everything we teach, well then, we don't know enough and need to study more intentionally. I'm excited to keep learning! Another thing I learned a lot about was how to better uplift those I am around. Not only are we disciples for those we teach but also to those we surround ourselves with. That is something I really want to grow at because that will greatly impact the rest of my life. My new Companion is Elder Gajadhar! He has been on his mission for 6 months and has finally made it to Jamaica after serving in his home country, Guyana. He is way excited to serve the people and see miracles. I am too but it's been fun to see that excitement in him.  Got to eat at a lot more cookshops and foods this week. Always a plus, unless it is because we didn't buy enough groceries. That may have been the reason this week, but hey, we work with it!  This next week we will be going back to Montego Bay for another Zone Conference. This time we will be having our Area Seventy and a General Authority joining us so should be getting some good counsel this week. Always got to love that! We had an Elder with us for the last few days of the week and that mixed it up a bit. It was a good week but tomorrow we will be getting my new companion from Guyana! His name is Elder Gajadhar and he has been out for 6 months. We saw him give his testimony last night during our Sunday Mission Devotional on zoom. I'm excited to see what is ahead for this next transfer!  We had a baptism for our friend Kay-leigh Mignott, Sister Thomas's daughter and Brother Thomas was able to baptize and confirm her a member of the church! It was really sweet to see it because she is really shy and quiet and that was the biggest struggle teaching her but I could tell deep down she was excited.  This week Elder Macfarlane and I had a goal of 30 lessons this week and the week started really good with that! We just have so many people to meet with and check up on that we set the goal to motivate us to not waste the small amounts of time and continue going. We were doing really good but we got ...

Ok first off we had the craziest lightning storm pass through that I have ever been in in my life! We had driven up into the mountains for about an hour, to visit a new person we are teaching. We were sitting outside his home when we see dark clouds coming over. We thought we would have enough time to finish the lesson and leave but the rain caught us so we all went inside. We continued our discussion, which was going very well, when lightning strikes way way way close! Just a flash and boom! This happens about 3-4 times while we are wrapping up the lesson so both Elder Macfarlane and I are wondering if we should should try to leave. The car isn't parked that far away but it's striking close, we are on a mountain and its dumping rain. Well we talked with him a bit longer and even set a baptismal date for October 7th for our new friend Kevon, and then we make the run for the truck. We realized it was a mistake when we just step outside and boom, lightning strikes close! We start...

This week was really good! Firstly we have put another friend on date for baptism on the 2nd of September. She is an unbaptized youth and really, really shy and quiet, like insanely quiet. She's warmed up a lot to us though and will now say prayers for us and actually answer our questions! She's excited for her baptism, both verbally and deep down, but she doesn't really show it through her shy expressions, haha. It'll be good to see how it goes the day of her baptism.  With that Crystal and Henry are doing really well. Henry wants us to teach their dad, who is going through some changes in his life, and they're testimonies of the Atonement of Jesus Christ are just growing every week with the experiences they are having! Dang, I love those two so much!  Also we got to go to Montego Bay for a Zone devotional and that was a trek! We had to drive the day before and also pick up the Elders in Junction on the way. How are you all doing this week? I can't believe I've written so many emails and never asked that. I hope you're well.  We had a meeting for the leadership in the mission in Kingston so we made a quick little trip over there. The Elders from Black River had to stay the night so they could make it with us Tuesday morning and it was good to see them both again! For those who may know or recognize names, it was Elder Wheeler, I served with him about 9 months ago, and Elder Fitisemanu, who just left May Pen last month. The meeting was really good and it was so good that no one wanted to stop, because it went 6 hours over time... crazy! Turns out we had a lot more to talk about than they thought, nevertheless it was good still.  The next day we had exchanges in Junction, so that means I drove the 2 hours there to drop off Elder Macfarlane and pick up Elder Griffith, and drive 2 hours back to start our day.
