Old dog is learning new tricks
We had our zone conference with Elder Cordon, one of our area seventies. Dang, did I learn a whole lot! I was talking with my mission president a little bit on the side after the mission tour, and he asked about what I had learned. Well, I feel like I need to apply everything more than ever. One of the things he talked about is just understanding the doctrine even more than we do right now. In short, let's say we can't give a scripture for everything we teach, well then, we don't know enough and need to study more intentionally. I'm excited to keep learning! Another thing I learned a lot about was how to better uplift those I am around. Not only are we disciples for those we teach but also to those we surround ourselves with. That is something I really want to grow at because that will greatly impact the rest of my life. These are my thoughts!
We
have our friend Jevon Reed who is preparing for his baptism next month, on Oct
7th. He is always exciting to teach and honestly, it is because he is so humble.
He's a great kid so let's all keep him in our prayers as he prepares for this
step in his life towards God.
Something real sweet that happened this week was at a family activity we had with the Wilson family. They have been trying to invite people to join and brought 3 youths there. For two of them, it was their first time seeing missionaries, so we introduced ourselves and hopefully they will continue to want to learn. Matthew Parkins, one of the 17 year old priests here, gave the lesson on the purpose of family prayer, scripture studies and evenings with the family. It was cool when he had everyone bear their testimonies and see how much they've been growing!
Talk next week!
