Wet and cool Mandeville

Alright well it rains more here in Mandeville than in May Pen so that's been a treat this week! I think just about everyday it's dumped rain and I no longer have a truck to take shelter in. Honestly, it has been a lot of fun and reminds me of past areas and times on my mission. 

The Branch here is way fun! We had Friday night activities and we played football for a bit. I was already sore from walking and then football did me over on the tiredness. I definitely slept well that night. Fun story though was that I slipped in the mud hard but popped back up and got around a kid with the ball and now some of the branch kids call me superman or Messi Jr. I haven't told them I'm actually not good at football yet 🤫
We also have this active, recently returned missionary who went out teaching with us and that was way sweet. He took us to teach some of his friends and some members in the area. He shared a lot of tips and actually said that he came back to Jamaica 3 weeks ago because he felt the Lord has something for him to do to help the work here. I really admire that faith and he has no idea how much of a support he has been to us and those in the branch. 
There are a lot of reasons to get down here in Mandeville because the church has been here the longest, out of all of Jamaica. It has the first organized unit but hasn't seen as much growth as it could have. However, me and my new companion, Elder Wilson, have seen how our exercise of faith has helped us to see God's hand in our area. We know God is with us and these people so we are here to keep working and seeing miracles. 
Also because Mandeville is "cooler" than most other areas in Jamaica we don't have AC. It's definitely cooler than my last area but it's still Jamaica and still gets hot so that's been fun! 😃

  Well, I did not know if I was going to write an email while in the MTC but there is a computer right next to the washer that my load of laundry is in so here I am waiting for it to finish. It has been such a cool transition to in-person! Finally got to meet my comp and everyone else in my district and can't believe it's only been 2 weeks that I have been with these friends. The Spirit is so strong here on this Campus! I know the things that I have and will learn here will guide me through my mission and the rest of my life. Leaning on the Lord and less on myself has been the hardest thing for me to apply to my life. More recently though, I have seen the difference it can make in my teaching and learning. There are hard days for sure when I can't stop thinking about everyone at home, but in my own farewell talk I talked about what we would be willing to give for the greatest possession. It's been a crazy 2 weeks!

First, we started off with exchanges with the Elders in Freeport. I was with Elder Asay in Nassau so for the first time I didn't have to fly anywhere, phew! We worked really hard here and had a lot of conversations surrounding following the spirit. We had a point where we had open time in our schedule and we were out on the road. We didn't know where we should go or who we should visit but we had the idea to say a prayer right there. Sure enough something I was told when I first got here came to mind. We were told a while back that there was an in-active member that lived behind the church. So we decided to visit and meet them, however we went the "wrong" way over there. We were biking around to find the correct way but met Devardo who was working on his car. We both pulled over and talked with him and he had some things to say! Freeport, Grand Bahamas

Well family and friends, I am in the Bahamas! It's been pretty crazy and I am excited to serve here.  First off we flew in on Wednesday and both of us are new: we had no food, and a less than clean apartment. So you know how that works. We spend a good amount of time shopping (which was an adventure in itself), cleaning, and getting to know the island. Freeport is "big" for an island in the Bahamas but there is very little going on here. It's very, very, very quiet but it's actually really nice. Finding new people has been a whole new ballgame because there's not many people on the streets. So we are back to door knocking! Now this is not the most fun thing to do, but when you don't know the members, don't know the area, and have very little (to no) people being taught ... you have to do something.
