Woah, wait, what just happened?...
Well good ol' Elder Blackwood is off to Africa! He has grown so much and I'm honestly so proud of him. Imagine being recently out of highschool and jumping straight into the work of 6:30 to 9:30. That would be pretty crazy. Many miracles these last 5 weeks.
I
got Elder MacFarlane, from Kingston, as a new companion and we are excited to get to work! The Lord
must have known because the other Elders moved out and now we are combining
both areas! Yeah, we are taking on a lot of people to teach and members to
visit. I'm having deja vu from a few months ago, dang!
The largest thing that has happened this week is that Elder MacFarlane and I have decided to sacrifice whatever it is the Lord would have us give up to have the Spirit with us more throughout the week. We prayerfully wrote down a list of all these things and are fasting from them for 40 days. The one that pinched me the most was playing more sacred music on my guitar and giving up playing more secular songs. Many things are being sacrificed but we've already seen some blessings!
1st Miracle: We visited this Sister and her husband that has been going to church for a very, very long time but still isn't baptized. At first it seemed that he was treating us as young youths without life experience as we are trying to have a spiritual discussion. I mean, I guess I understand, we are pretty young for Elders. Towards the end, however, I had the thought to share an experience that was similar to one that he shared with us. After that point he just smiled and nodded his head and the whole mood of that home shifted. He still isn't ready for baptism but his heart is being softened!
2nd Miracle: We were driving down the road as an appointment fell through. We could either go right to go home or left to go into town. We didn't know exactly what to do with our time but we thought maybe there was someone we could visit in town. After heading that way, a family (that didn't come to church after promising they would), came to mind. We started heading over until I remembered that the last time we visited we promised to bring them a certain document called "The Family: A Proclamation to the World". Well, we didn't have one, or so I thought we didn't. We pulled over and I thought, "how crazy would it be if one was just magically in the truck?" I told Elder MacFarlane and started digging around pockets and bags. I checked the center console and saw one, then remembered that it was put there several weeks ago.... dang. We stopped by and had a great lesson with them.
3rd Miracle: This one was a few hours ago when we visited Crystal and Henry, a brother and sister we met 5 weeks ago. It was just Henry at first and we taught him about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then Crystal came by and then we taught her with the help of Henry! Afterwards they both wanted to be baptized and we are going towards what day that'll be!
It's so cool to see all of this only 3 days into us deciding we want to give more to God.
