Sharing scriptures and some random but not random visitors!
Elder Blackwood is really turning it up this week! It is always so cool to see someone really take on change and do the best they can. It inspires me everyday!
We had an appointment with a member that sadly must have forgotten everything he's been taught or he never really was taught by the missionaries well. He had a lot of questions about everything concerning God, haha, but Elder Blackwood did very well by bringing out the scriptures he had been learning. He shared Helaman 5:12 in the Book of Mormon, which talks about having a foundation in Christ. He related it to building a house and the member enjoyed the message.
Later in the week we stopped by this person's home who also had a lot of unnecessary questions, haha. What was amazing about this appointment was that there was a recent new member who was in the area, with another one of our new members, and they both joined the lesson and absolutely took over, in a good way haha. We talked about the purpose of this life and what's next and Elder Blackwood said he wants to always have members join lessons because he didn't have to say as much. That's true!
We were scheduled to go by this member's home named Sister Sparkes and meet all of her family. It was a good drive into the parish and is one of my favorites with the windy tight roads, haha. Don't worry, we drive safely! She has one granddaughter that is also a member of the church but everyone else isn't. There was a good group of them and we were able to share Alma 31:5 in the Book of Mormon, which talks about the virtue and power of the word of God. Personally I love this scripture because we have had so many great lessons by using the scriptures to teach and the Sparkes really felt it as they all shared how the scriptures have blessed their lives. Afterwards, they fed us as well and that was so good! Some yam, dumpling, boiled green banana, rice and peas, and chicken!
Something really cool happened at church this week as well! We had a family of a mom, daughter, cousin and son all visit. When we asked them who invited them, they said the name of someone I didn't recognize, and who wasn't there at church. They decided to come anyway. The mom's name is Shanalee and she said that even though her sister's family didn't come that she promised she would come so she did! That is pretty impressive!
Always miracles, you just have to look for them! Love you all
