Yo ho, yo ho, a mission life for me
For P day last Monday we got to go to this Pirate museum and it is way cool to learn about how much history pirates have, not only in the Bahamas, but in Nassau. Sadly I learned it wasn't all like Pirates of the Caribbean, but it was cool nonetheless.
We've gotten a lot of rain this week which started us off kind of slow. We also had a lot of stops at the bike shop for repairs but that wasn't all bad because Taea, who we met last week, works there so we get to check up on her and answer any questions she has about God or the Book of Mormon. One day Elder Lewis busted his rear gears and that made it really hard to bike. We were about to start what probably would've been an hour journey, when it started raining. Brother Dean, a member of the Church that has a rental nearby, called us and asked for some last minute help moving some crates of tile. We decided to do that before we tried to bike our way to the shop in the rain. After we helped him out he offered to take us there and that was a tender mercy because, looking back, we probably would've had to walk the bikes with Elder Lewis's broken gears.
Fun fact is that Nassau got the first IHOP in the Bahamas but it's way packed almost all of the time right now so haven't gotten to get in there yet.
I also got to give a talk this Sunday on obedience. I thought it was pretty good. I was the first speaker and the chapel was about half full at the start of church. It hasn't been this empty for a while so I thought I was going to have a small crowd to speak to. However, right before I went up to speak, everyone seemed to come in at once and then it was a full house. Of course I was excited to see everyone who made it, but it was a lot bigger of a crowd to speak to. It was alright, though, because I had absolutely no nerves being up at the pulpit. I haven't spoken in a full chapel like that in a long time but I guess my time out here teaching and organizing small groups in Jamaica has given me a lot of practice. I did pray before I went up as well so I am positive God helped me out. The biggest thing I learned about obedience is that even when the option to be disobedient is a "good" thing to do, it is always better to obey God. Sometimes we don't understand, but God gives us commandments for our good. He loves you so much. I don't know how to describe it but I know everything God does is because He loves us.
