Some good memories
We only had one full day in Nassau. We got to help a member do an oil change and visit a few people before we went off to Jamaica.
First things first in Jamaica was zone conference! We got to stay the night in Port Antonio, I was here about 7 months ago serving. We and 2 other Elders had our rooms given to 4 sisters who ended up staying the night at the hotel as well so we went and got to stay at another hotel nearby that was really, really nice, haha, so I won't complain. Waking up to the Port Antonio Bay brought back some old memories. I love this place, haha. The trainings given and discussions had at zone conference were very good and focused a lot on centering our missionary work around helping others to come unto Christ and to appreciate the gift of repentance. I hope everyone there enjoyed it as much or more than I did.
After the meeting I headed off to Port Maria with Elder Englestead for exchanges. I haven't been with Elder Englestead since I was in Yallahs and that was like 10 months ago! We both have seen a lot of growth in each other and I learned a lot from him. We had a lot of great lessons and helped some guys fill in a trench with dirt for a little as well. While there I had some stewed cow foot added to my order of fried chicken and it was good! If you don't know what it tastes like, the closest comparison I can make is tapioca pudding, haha.
After exchanges I was back with Elder Lewis in Port Antonio and we got to watch General Conference. If you don't know what it is, it's a live broadcast of our church general authorities and they speak to us about Christ and give council to help us seek Him. This conference definitely did that!
We had P day with the Port Antonio Elders and Buff Bay Elders and we played some football (soccer) and basketball and now we are in a taxi (oh I missed these) headed on our way to Kingston for the rest of the week.
It's been a pretty wild ride and I love Jamaica so much but it will be nice to be back in Nassau with our people and friends we are teaching. We have been having to keep in touch with them over the phone and have call lessons with those who want to but it's been tough to help teach them with technical difficulties and sometimes they not answering. We are doing the best we can with it, though, and are praying that they continue to seek God without us being there in person.
Love you all!
