3 flats, 1 week
Today we flew into Provo! It was crazy. Haha it was actually Provideniales, Turks and Caicos, but when we were descending the pilot said "Provo" for short! Elder Samuels and I, along with the Sisters in Turks and Caicos, are flying into Jamaica for zone conference this week. Back to the homeland!
To explain the self-explanatory title, yep we got 3 flat tires this week and I won't say who got them. I definitely got better and quicker at repairing or replacing them though!
This week flew by almost as fast as our flights today took! We've been going about visiting members and serving along the way. One visit that was really cool was visiting Sister and Brother Basden. Elder Samuels and I love Sister Basden! She is the humblest person ever and when we visited we asked her if there was anything she missed and would want from Jamaica, and what would it be. She answered with her family, and we started talking about family history work from there. It may have not been what we thought we would talk about with her but it was definitely what she needed. We helped her as much as we could with some questions she had about her family history and had our mission family history specialist reach out to her to help more. The next time we visited she was able to learn so much about her ancestors and was so excited about it!
Elder Samuels and I also got to give talks at church this last Sunday on the Book of Mormon. We were excited that the Branch President trusted us with this assignment and we hope we can continue to build that trust with members in the branch. With all that I prepared, I didn't end up using much of it. I ended up talking a lot about how the scriptures can apply to our lives. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ and starts with a family who go through their own trials and struggles. We can find our own personal revelations from God as we study His word. That was just the summarized version of my talk haha.
I love the service that I get to be a part of. The things I am learning will go with me for the rest of my life but I didn't have to learn these things out in the Caribbean. I hope you all know that you can learn of the same gospel, that I get to learn and teach, in the scriptures. I encourage you to search for the answers to your questions in the scriptures and I can promise you will find them. Love you all!
