Wisdom, knowledge, and understanding

This week we got to talk with some amazing members of the branch here. Sister Dixon was the first new member we were able to reach out to this week and she is amazing! We asked her about her conversion story and she said that she saw the missionaries one day and went up to talk with them, they answered a question that she had had on her mind for years about the gospel, and was baptized 3 weeks later! We need to find more people like her.

Then later that day we were trying to meet with another member but she said she was at work. Well, we weren't letting her go that easily so we asked where she works and she said she started her first day at Fresco. That's the supermarket we buy our groceries from!! It also turns out that 3 other members work there as well, so we visited them all at work, haha.

A cool tender mercy we saw this week was when we got a number from a friend we were going to start teaching. Later that day when we went to call the number it was not assigned! At first we thought she gave us a fake number but then I felt like swapping 2 numbers around and called again. Amazingly enough, it was her!! Haha, I couldn't believe it because of the "randomness" of it, but I know that it was a miracle.

We got to have interviews with President this week and I am always so excited when they happen! I always feel so motivated after talking with him and he is so much fun. We also found out on Sunday that President Odonkor will be the Branch President here in Port Antonio. He is just following me around the island haha!!

So a saying that many people here use is "pray for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding". Well with this week's church study of Proverbs, it turned into a heavy breakdown of these 3 words and the differences between them! It was pretty fun as the members discussed this and a lot of cool things ended up being shared.

A study challenge that President Odonkor gave us last week was to grab a new Book of Mormon and read through it, marking passages of scripture about the Doctrine of Jesus Christ, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, and repentance. So far I have loved this study and have learned a lot about repentance and the sacrifice Christ gave us. I have come to know just how real the Atonement is on my mission. I have seen it change others and most of all me. If you have ever wondered why I am still out here in Jamaica, not vacationing, but going about teaching about the restored gospel, it is because I love Christ. President Odonkor shared a talk on the questions the resurrected Christ asked Peter after they were fishing again. "Lovest thou me? Feed my sheep".

Love you all and hope you can think of the love that you have for Christ.
