Jamaican Indepence!!

Exchanges with the Elders in Dalvey were fun this week. Elder Scoresby came with Elder Goddard and I in Yallahs. We had a lot of lessons planned but by the time we walked out to our farthest one, they all cancelled. Well, we figured we were here for a reason so we started walking back, talking to everyone. About half way we met an inactive member and got his number and then also met our new friend Omar! The sisters in Kingston sent us his contact information because he works in Kingston and they met him there but he lives in Yallahs. When we called the number they gave, it was the wrong number! That was last week and this week we bumped into him on the road and were able to get to know him and get his number. Crazy how plans being cancelled can be God's plan. Jah know!

A few days later Elder Goddard was picked up by the Zone Leaders because he has been sharing a lot of medical concerns. So they took him to the hospital and he will be staying there. Now we are back to a two-man companionship.

Later in the week we had exchanges with the APs! They let us know the night before and they thought that we were still in the trio but we weren't. So we got to have an exchange with them and it was really good. I got to be with my past zone leader, Elder Samuels. Love that Elder! We worked in their area virtually so that means lots of phone calls. I learned a lot.

We have been trying to meet with more members this week and we met with one brother in the branch. We got to know him and hear his conversion story and talked with him about helping his friends and family experience the same thing. We actually did a role play of him talking to his cousin about meeting with the missionaries! It was pretty cool.

This fast and testimony Sunday was really cool as well because we had a friend that we are teaching fast with us!! She owns a shop that she works at so she can't come to church on Sunday. However, she did fast and she loved it!!

Lately I have been studying the general handbook for the church because of the calling I have in the Yallahs Branch. I've learned a lot from it and thought I would share something I liked. Mosiah 4:27 "And see that all these things are done in wisdom and order; for it is not requisite that a man should run faster than he has strength. And again, it is expedient that he should be diligent, that thereby he might win the prize; therefore, all things must be done in order." This scripture was quoted in section 4 of the handbook and it guided me to think about the balance of what we sacrifice for our consecrated service and how we still need to take care of our own needs. Both are very important and often people lean towards one side or the other. I thought about how we should find the balance that the Lord wants us to meet. Well, the handbook answers that for us haha. It says "Seek the guidance of the Holy Ghost to help you balance and fulfill your responsibilities". There you go! The spirit will guide us if we seek it.

Oh I got to eat some more great food this week!! I finally had curry goat for the first time. It was the Greatest Of All Time. Then I had chicken foot soup!! Shout out to Elder Schneider! Then I finally had Manish water!! We found this restaurant that delivers all of this food and more so I had to try it! For those who don't know what Manish water is... You take a goat's head, put it in a pot, boil it, mash it, stew it and make a soup and don't take anything out! Sounds good to me! I will say there were a lot of pieces of goat head in that cup that I did not know what it was. It tasted good though!

Also it was Jamaica's independence day on the 6th. Hooray Jamaica!

Love you all and hope you think about the likkle thought I felt like sharing.
