We Bought a Zoo

I forgot to share this last week so I thought I would throw it in.  We met Dave a few weeks ago, who is one of the friendliest, intoxicated people I have met! He just called at us from the bush on the side of the road and started to chat with us. He then asks if we like cane and I do love me some sugar cane, so I said yeah. He then proceeds to invite us into his property and walks us through this forest of banana and mango trees to get to this patch of sugar cane. He cuts up 3 stalks and gets us some #11 mangos!! Yeah, number eleven is the name of the mangos, I don't know why, but they are so good!

This week started off good with a mission tour with Elder Gaverett, who is the area President over our mission, and many great things were shared on striving to work by the Spirit. I guess that is what we should always be doing, haha, but it was especially emphasized on using the spirit while finding people to teach.

Right after the mission tour I had the chance to finally go to the other Elder's area in Dalvey. Now I have heard it is "bush" and it really is, haha. A lot of jungle and not many people, but it really is a cool place.

We also got to meet a stud of a 12-year-old named Ricky! It was actually a miracle we found him because we were just walking around this big loop and were about to go back to the main road. Then this lady named Telma Richie drove up and told us some people up this other lane needed to hear our message. It was a little weird but she seemed nice and so she led us down the lane and pointed us on our way. We then ran into Ricky and his cousin, Jaden.  They walked with us for about half an hour, showing us different fruit trees and even picking us some mulberry and China cherry. Eventually Ricky led us to his home and we got to teach most of his family as well! I look forward to seeing them again this upcoming week.

Also, throughout the week these kids that live next door have been saying hi to us a lot. So because they were being so nice I treated them with some ginnup one day and they have not left me alone since! They are cute and all but almost snuck their way into our apartment!! Haha! They've calmed down recently but they really are nice kids that are curious about what these white men are doing all the time ... sounds like a teaching opportunity.

Also for P-day this week we got to go to the zoo in Kingston, which was pretty fun. I mean, we got to see a white tailed deer! Haha!! Its been a while since I've seen one of those. It really was fun though to see everyone in the zone and to see President and Sister Odonkor.

Well, those are some fun things from this week! Another little one is that Elder Scoresby, from the MTC, is coming back to my district!! I will also be in a trio again for a week or so. Should be an exciting week coming but for now, you all take care!!
