The missionary work in Yallahs is still going strong

Early this week we got to have interviews with President Odonkor!! I really do love President and he shared a lot in my interview pertaining to the area and the district. One thing that I saw coming, with my calling of Branch Clerk, was that I am going to be here in Yallahs for a long while. I am grateful, though, because I know that I will really come to love the area and the people here. 

After a good 6 weeks we are back to a 2-man apartment. 4 Elders in an apartment was fun, but it was better for their area to finally have them move to Dalvey (which is where they used to drive/taxi to everyday). Elder Driscoll and I have the Yallahs Palace to ourselves and it is very spacious for 2, haha.

 

We had exchanges with the zone leaders on a day that they did not have their truck, haha. So that meant that we had to figure out how to taxi to Kingston and get to their apartment. Don't worry it all worked out with a little assistance. For our exchange both companionships worked in Kingston and we got to street contact in Kingston! It is much busier there than in Yallahs so it took me a little to adjust, but it was so much fun. We could literally just stand on a corner and let people walk to us. Turns out that's what we did! At the end of the day I was exhausted but it was so cool to get to do.

 

Early Sunday morning my mission President was then able to take us back to yallahs for church. It is going to be great to have President Odonkor as the Yallahs Branch president. After church I got to learn how to do a lot of clerk responsibilities.

 

That is all of the special things for this week. The missionary work in Yallahs is still going strong. We are talking to all we can and we are seeing many miracles with those we are finding and teaching. God really is in the details. I also got to have another type of cooked chicken! It's brown stew chicken which is pretty good. We got it in a little shop in Kingston where I will continue to try new foods, haha!

Tuesday we had a mission leadership meeting and it went well, took a lot from it. We got pulled from our area early Monday morning to go to Kingston, to stay the night, and then have the meeting the next day... that was a little annoying but we managed and got fed. 😋  Ok, now imagine you're working hard in a new area, trying to get used to all of the newness and  different circumstances. You love playing ping pong in the mornings and also being with the new friends you are making and then you get news that you're going back?... Back? Back where?... Back to Maypen!.. Wait, what!? Yep, I am back in Maypen. That was my last area 2 weeks ago and I took Elder Wilson with me. There have been 4 sisters there and they are going to replace us in Mandeville. The weirdest thing is that this is only for 9 days, so by next Monday, most likely, we will be back in Mandeville. Dang it gets chaotic sometimes 😅. Another week in Mandeville

This week was pretty eventful! One evening we had a member who recently returned from a mission join us in our companionship study, which me and my companion have every evening, and we did teaching role plays with him. Haha, missionaries are pretty familiar with roleplays and usually are not fond of them. It was fun with him, though, and we learned a lot! That same member also brought a friend to church! We were pretty excited to teach her after church and, oh boy, did she have questions to ask and then her own answers to give to every one. I had begun to question a bit what  her purpose of asking those questions was, but we just listened and tried to really understand where she is at with her conversion and relationship with God. We are hopeful for her!🙏  Here is one of the many things I've learned this week as well. I need to be careful playing sports... Wet and cool Mandeville

Alright well it rains more here in Mandeville than in May Pen so that's been a treat this week! I think just about everyday it's dumped rain and I no longer have a truck to take shelter in. Honestly, it has been a lot of fun and reminds me of past areas and times on my mission.  The Branch here is way fun! We had Friday  night activities and we played football for a bit. I was already sore from walking and then football did me over on the tiredness. I definitely slept well that night. Fun story though was that I slipped in the mud hard but popped back up and got around a kid with the ball and now some of the branch kids call me superman or Messi Jr. I haven't told them I'm actually not good at football yet 🤫 We also have this active, recently returned missionary who went out teaching with us and that was way sweet.
