1st baptismal interview!!!

First off, being sick on the mission is not fun but there is not much you can do about it. There were also a few mishaps with the other Elders in the district. They used to have a car because their area is an hour and a half away when there is good traffic but because a senior couple needed a car to get to their area, the Elders lost their truck. Now they are taxiing with a member in the branch but there have been a lot of privileges lost with losing the car. It has definitely made us all appreciate the things we do have.

We got to go on another exchange with the Zone Leaders and this time Elder West came to Yallahs with me. We walked and talked all day and it looks like we will be continuing to do that. One thing I have noticed with this area is that you can just walk around all day, talk to people all day, and very easily come home having no new people to teach.  We have been trying hard to state our purpose and what work we are here to do but a lot of people just really like to talk. I do love talking to people so it can be really hard when you are friends with people but they have no interest in church. There was this one guy, though, that randomly came up to us and asked where our church was. We told him where and asked if he wanted to visit. He then said no and that he wanted to bring us to God, hahaha, and then Elder Driscoll said, "that's what we do!" That was pretty fun because then the guy started trying to teach us some philosophy of his own: how he isn't a Christian but a servant of Jesus Christ. Yeah I know, doesn't make sense to me either, but it did to him so we listened.

Going back to the sick part of the week.  I have noticed that if you don't have the desire to do something that you know you should, pray and do it and it will work out. There were many mornings this week that I just felt sick in the head but I said my morning prayer and got up. I have never felt more physically supported and that was a great blessing this week.

Another blessing of this week was being able to hold my first baptismal interview for my friend Ramos! The Zone Leaders in Kingston were teaching him and because I am their District Leader, I get to do the baptismal interviews for those they teach. It is just a short list of questions on the basic principles of the gospel and it was really neat to hear Ramos's testimony and how he has come to know the church is true. I can't explain the Spirit that was there but it was amazing.

Hope none of you are sick at home and if you are, I hope you get better soon! Love you all!!
