Good Ol' Yallahs

So yes, I have moved out of Junction and am now on the other side of the Island. My companion and I, with the other Elders in the apartment, cover the entire parish of Saint Thomas, so we have a good bit of area to cover. There is one main road that goes through our area and we tend to just walk up and down this road and there are a lot of people to talk to. To say the least, we have a lot of good work ahead!

Now my new companion is Elder Driscoll and he is so fun! We also have Elders Kanan and Englestead and they are great missionaries as well. All 4 four of us live in the same apartment, "the Yallah's Palace'', and it has been a great first week in a 4 Elder apartment. It is very different compared to a 2 Elder apartment and I will say that my mini basketball and hoop gets used a lot more now, haha.

Yallahs is definitely different from Junction. A lot more tin roofs, potholes, and dust. However they also have a lot more mangoes!! I have had a lot of mangoes this past week haha and they have been so good! Another thing I have noticed is that the patwah is thicker here. It took me a few days to understand people and I felt like I just got to Jamaica again! I'm doing better now.

Really, this first week has been just a lot of adjusting and getting to know the people we are teaching. Elder Driscoll has only been here 2 weeks longer than I have, so we both don't know a lot of the people we have to teach. On top of that I am the District leader! My first day here I was told that we were having a district council the next day so I had to plan that and then after I did that, the Zone Leaders asked if I could give training at the Kingston zone conference that was Saturday! It all went very well and I am really excited to continue working. Having leadership definitely keeps you busy but I have seen so much help and guidance in one short week.

I love God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I wouldn't be here if I didn't and I want to bear my testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is good and if we have a desire to learn more, God will help us. He wants all of His blessings for us but we need to show Him that we want them as well. I hope everyone will seek and expect those blessings from God. Take care and drive safely!
