President Jensen
Ok, starting off the weekly with a bang! We had exchanges with the Santa Cruz
Elders and I got to be with Elder Reeder in the Junction area. We went to
Tophill for the day, which we have been going to a lot recently. We actually
went there again on Thursday with Elder Schneider. Both days we taught the same
people. Brittany Gardens, Vashnie, Arvil, Nicholas and Maria. Sorry, a lot of
names, but all of them are doing pretty well right now and seem to be
willing to come to church ... not this week, but next, so we will see how that
goes.
Wednesday, we went to Bull Savannah to visit JJ and Kirk Burke. They seem to be doing well, but still not looking too good to be able to make it to church. We taught about the priesthood and priesthood blessings. JJ was interested in blessings and we offered to give him one. I had the opportunity to do so and left with an invitation to continue reading the Book of Mormon. On the way up we talked with these two Jehovah's Witnesses and actually taught them a lesson about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and it wasn't bad, haha.
Friday we went to Tryall, which is an area we have not been to much since I have been here. Apparently there is a lot of inactive members, so we visited Sister Burton, who we knew was there, and she is awesome. I felt like I should share the scripture 4 Nephi 1: 15-16 and after she said she read that just the other day!! It was super cool!
Saturday we went back to Bull Savannah and visited JJ and Kirk again, thinking his 10-year-old nieces would be there this time. Sadly they were at an aunties for the weekend. We talked with JJ about prayer and the Word of Wisdom. The whole time Kirk was busy plucking chicken. The whole day, their family was harvesting chicken. They had 100 of them! Crazy! We didn't get to help them, sadly, because we had to get going. Maybe another time.
So Sunday was really fun. President Morgan (Branch President), Brother Powell (1st counselor), and President Collins (Elders Quorum President) were all not there at church. For those who don't know all those names, they are all the leadership with the authority to run Sacrament meeting. So, because they weren't there, President Morgon told me that I was to conduct and preside church... so that was fun. He literally called me President Jensen on the phone call, haha! It was not bad but I was definitely nervous.
Overall, a really good week and excited for transfers in the coming week!
Love you all

ReplyDeleteThe Church is True. I am already walking and driving and thinking about going dancing again. Do not ever underestimate the power of the Priesthood. Use it first for all problems. Brother Abdon
