Easter in Jamaica!
Good morning! (Or good whatever time you are reading this) We had transfers this week and nothing changed! It was my first transfer with the same area and companion and I am so glad. Our entire zone had very little change as well, which is really abnormal. I am looking forward to these next 6 weeks! 😁👍👍
Now
Tuesday through Thursday we're pretty normal days. Tuesday we went to Tophill
and taught our friends in that area and it was good. Nothing different happened
there. Wednesday we went to an area Elder Schneider and I have yet to go to. We were planning to meet up with someone we met from Facebook, but we had a couple of hours before she was off work. We decided to walk around and get to know the
town a little and met several people and taught some lessons. Whenever you try
teaching when you first meet people you can get some pretty interesting lessons, haha. We met with our Facebook friend, Ingrid, and she really just had a lot of questions and wanted to ask us what was true. She asked about many things that different
churches here teach differently and it was cool how much she trusted what we
knew. We told her that next time we would share a message about why our church
is different and how she can come to know the truth for herself. She seems
pretty excited! Thursday we went up to Munro to visit some members and see how
they see doing.
Over the course of these 3 days, we got a lot of free goodies. One of our friends gave us a pumpkin, another friend gave us 2 watermelons, a cantaloupe, and Jamaican apples, and another friend gave us mangos, all of which has been way good!!
In Jamaica the Easter holiday is a big holiday and Good Friday is part of that. So on Friday we were going to go get a taxi to Ballard's Valley and there was no one out. All of the shops were closed on the way to the taxi stop and there weren't any taxis running whatsoever! So we went back to the apartment and called people, did Facebook work, went through old records, and called more people who used to meet with the missionaries. Let's just say it was a slower day.
Saturday was back to normal and we went to Bull Savannah and visited the girls we are teaching. Their names are Adori and Chimisha and they are both 10. Kirk Burke and JJ were also there and we talked about commandments and following the prophet. After we were having some fun with them, asking random questions like what everyone's favorite colors are and then Chimisha asked who everyone's best friends were. Both of the girls said that I was their best friend and it was very sweet. Sadly Elder Schneider was not. I have known them longer so I am sure they will grow to like him as much, if not more, than me. Haha
Easter
Sunday was a good day with 2 of our friends making it to church!!! Amanda and
Rose were both able to make it and we are planning on meeting them this coming
week to see how they liked it. They had to leave soon after church because
their ride was waiting but they seemed to love it!
It rained on us a good amount this week but I am at the point where I just get wet. It doesn't matter to me! Although this next week there is supposed to be a lot of rain... so maybe I should get an umbrella. We will see.
Love you all and wish you the best! Remember to "seek and expect miracles" -President Russel M. Nelson
