Zone conference! With some surprises

Woah, this week was a blur!

Tuesday started off with exchanges with the Santa Cruz Elders. Elder Chamberlain came here to Junction and hung out with me as we taught in our area. He actually served in Kansas Wichita as well!! He got to Jamaica only a couple months before I started in Kansas, so we had a lot in common to talk about and it was fun. We went to Lover's Leap to teach Mikel again, who is now on date for baptism on the 19th!!! He is so ready and excited for that Saturday! He also got to hear about the Jamaica temple trip for all members on the island on the 29th and he really wants to be able to make it to that!

Wednesday we went to visit Stacy and her family again. We taught about the Plan of Salvation and they really liked hearing about the happiness they can have as a family forever after this life. We are trying to help them find time to read from the Book of Mormon but as most of us know, families often get pretty busy, but they are trying.

That evening I made some BBQ jerk chicken, rice and peas, and fried plantain. It was some good good stuff!! Then washed it down with my first Mountain Dew in Jamaica, haha. Elder Knight and I found a store here with Jamaican made American sodas for a pretty decent price and American candy as well! I got a Twix bar for like 190 dollars!! Don't freak out, it is 190 Jamaican dollars, which is not bad at all for American candy, at least here in Junction, Saint Elizabeth.

Thursday Elder Knight and I went back to Mikel's and it just poured on us ... haha, like POURED. Some of the roads were just straight rivers and we were drenched when we made it to Mikel's. Thankfully, he felt bad for us and got us towels to dry off and then we had a great lesson with him about tithing. I honestly love teaching about the law of tithes because we are promised we will be blessed so much we won't have room enough to receive it. That is pretty cool!

Friday was Zone Conference and we had to be out of the apartment at 7:30 to get to Mandeville at 8:45, 15 minutes before it started. We had training on a lot of things that are really going to help this mission continue to grow. One of the things I really took from it was that there is a large importance in helping people truly understand the gospel of Jesus Christ.

1. Faith in Christ

2. Repentance (that is an action or cause of our faith)

3. Baptism (the ultimate sign of repentance and first step of our coming unto Christ)

4. Receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost (to help guide us as we strive to come unto Christ)

5. And finally endure to the end! (Which is to continue bettering and remembering the steps we have made before.)

So hopefully with this adjustment to our teaching, we will begin to see greater success here in Junction!

Saturday, Elder Knight and I went to Bull Savannah to visit Kirk, JJ (his Baptismal date is going to be moved because he couldn't make it to church๐Ÿ˜”), then also got to meet JJ's cousins Adori and Chimisha who are both 10. We taught them about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and they all loved it!! Also we heard that Kirk's neckbrace is coming off this next week so he will be going back to work and will better be able to get a rides for everyone who wants to go! We are really excited for that whole family!

Sunday was amazing with Stacy and her family coming to church, Mikel, Owen, and 3 friends of Brother Thomas, Jackie, Stacy (Jackie's daughter), and Mirium. The chapel was packed with all of our friends and members there and testimony meeting started off with President Morgan announcing that they will begin looking for land to buy in Junction to build our own building!!! I literally could not believe it when I heard that and I could feel such a strong love for this area to see that these members will soon get the building they deserve so that the branch here can truly begin to grow!

The Lord is really in the fine details of all of our lives and I can not wait to look back and see how much work the Lord can do. The gospel is true, haha, what else can I say?

I love you all and love hearing how things are going back home. Don't have too much fun without me.๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜†
