Sleepovers! Miracles! Apostle!

This week was an abnormal week in a good way! Tuesday and Wednesday we had exchanges planned with the Zone Leaders in Santa Cruz and with the other Santa Cruz Elders as well.

Tuesday was with the ZLs and they drove down to Junction in the morning to start the day. I got to have Elder Grant come with me to our area and that was great! Elder Grant was actually the Elder that I got to hang out with for a day in Kingston when I first got here to Jamaica. So Tuesday we had planned to go to Bull Savannah to visit Kirk Burke and all of his neighbors again! This time we got to teach 2 more of his neighbors and just had 4 back to back solid lessons! I also love exchanges because Elder Grant brought up so many perspectives on things we have already taught but really helped the people we were teaching. By the last lesson we also had a little squad walking down the street with Elder Grant, myself, Kirk, Adory (Kirk's 10 year old grandniece) and a dog named Gucci. Elder Grant said it felt a little like Wizard of Oz haha. We ended the day with riding with the ZLs to the apartment in Santa Cruz for our exchange with the other Elders.

Wednesday I got to stay in Santa Cruz with Elder White and they had 7-8 phone lessons back to back for about 4 hours. It was brutal, especially since only 2 or 3 of them actually happened. It was a rough day, but some days are just like that and there is not much you can do other than look forward to trying again tomorrow!

With that being said, Thursday was so much fun!! We went to Southfield and met a couple people there as we made our way to Loversleap to get someone a Book of Mormon. It was pretty cloudy all day but then in Loversleap, we got dumped on hard. It was raining so much, it was great! Sadly, our friend we were meeting didn't show because of the rain but we rescheduled. Later that night we had a phone lesson with a someone who got in touch with the Facebook Elders and wanted to learn more about Christ. However, when we got on the phone call she asked if we were the Mormons. We said that that is a nickname given to us and she told us that she was not going to join our church and didn't seem that interested anymore. We decided to just teach about Jesus Christ then and had a member join the lesson. Oh did our friend's mind change haha. Sister Gayle shared such an incredible testimony of the Book of Mormon that our friend asked if she could get one and that she wants to continue to learn more. Seriously, the gospel is so true! What else, other than a simple testimony, can change the mind and heart of someone so miraculously!!

Friday and Saturday were pretty normal days with great lessons and a lot of work. Friday was a little fun though because on the way to a lesson a kitten with some rope tied tight around its neck was following us and we decided to get the rope off of it. Then we had a temporary trio for a good bit haha until a dog scared it away. Also Saturday we listened to a Caribbean Missions Devotional with Ulisses Soares that was broadcasted from Dominican and that was really cool. Lots of great things shared about the work and that the Lord qualifies who he calls.

This Sunday I was asked to give a talk on the Book of Mormon and I was actually really excited! I love the Book of Mormon so much and really came to realize that it truly was written for our day! If you have any questions on that email me because it is a topic that I would love to talk about more.

For now I will finish with my testimony that you can come closer to God by the reading of the Book of Mormon more than any other book. This is something that I have felt for myself many times and the great thing about the gospel is that you can as well! You don't have to take my word for it haha because God will answer all of our questions if we have the intent to act on the answer we may receive. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

Hope ya'll are having a great time, love you all, and enjoy the snow while you can 😉
