Dang it feels like so much has happened!

First just going to say oops for missing last week. I have fun story about my travel to Kansas that I will get to later haha. I know I didn't write much in my last email because I know if I write a lot you may have to actually sit down to read it all. So just a heads up... this one is going to be longer.

So MTC was a great experience! People have their own opinions on it but it really taught me to do my best as I move forward in the mission. How one of my fellow elders in my district put it is that the MTC is a life detoxs. You learn to put your normal way of life behind you and just focus on the mission. Part of my last week in the MTC we got to welcome and help the new coming wave of missionaries get their stuff and get them dropped off at the rooms. It was really cool and fun to get to help them because it was only a week before this that I was in their position. The rest of my last week was pretty normal in terms of our lessons everyday and our devotionals. However it was really cool to notice a common theme in a lot of what was prepared to be taught. Within 3 of the days I am positive that the story of the Brother of Jared came up like 6-7 times. So I'll say that I grew a really good understanding of the story and it just so happens that in the last practice lesson my companion and I had at the MTC we were asked about receiving answers in our prayers... WHAT!? For those who may not know the scripture story as well, it is essentially about the different ways we can receive answers to our prayers. The story can be found in Ether chapters 2 and 3. It was really neat to see so clearly how if I pay attention to what I am learning that it will make all the difference when teaching others.

So with my flight plan to Wichita Kansas there was a lot of last minute changes to my flight so I was not able to fly the whole time with the rest of the missionaries going to Kansas. My 1st flight was an hour later and I had a half an hour layover in Alanta to meet up with them and fly to Wichita. So with my really short layover, ofcourse my flight out of Salt Lake just happened to be delayed 1.5 hours. I then got my new flight from Atlanta that had me leaving to Kansas 4 hours later than the missionaries ahead of me. While this is all happening Mission President, his wife, and all of the other missionaries thought I was lost so they had a short but good fright. Haha it all worked out ok and I was able to get there at around 9:30 and get to bed by 10:30. 😅👍👍

Now my first week in Kansas!!! Got to meet my trainer, who is Elder Henrie. He has been out for 5 months and just made the District Leader. Basically that means we are both learning together on a lot of things and doing great! It honestly has been awesome and I am so great he is my companion! We are over the young single adults in our area, which is a very small group here in Kansas. However we have made the vague goal along with more specific ones to work the best we can without overwhelming ourselves. A day or two after we made this goal we had some missionaries from another area pass off a very faithful person who had a date for baptism this upcoming weekend! Now could be a coincidence but I agree with the words of oogway that there are no accidents.

Thanks for staying till the end of this long email! I know it was a lot but the short version is that I still have a lot to learn but I am doing great! 😁 I love getting emails from people and I apologize if I don't get back to you fast enough. They keep us pretty busy haha.

Love and miss you all!
