Alright, I'm back, here's the last 2 weeks
We had transfers this last week so the week before transfers ended pretty well. We got fed a lot and had even more amazing lessons with our friends. After 6 weeks things are really picking up and I think after 3 months of being on a bike, my legs are getting used to it. The Bahamas has been way amazing! Even though it's becoming the rainy season and we get caught in the rain all of the time, it's been the best here. I will say a large part of how good things were isn't necessarily the circumstances only but the things I've been learning.
Now transfers were on Monday and we had a little switcheroo with the Elders in Freeport and I'm now companions with Elder Lewis, who was one of the other Elders here in Nassau for the last 6 weeks. That same day our phone was placed down a little too close to the ocean and an upcoming tide soaked it pretty bad. That left all four of us with 1 phone again for 3 days. We did the best we could! One of those days it was pretty crazy because we got caught by the rain and it dumped! We were trying to get home but we literally could not see the road ahead of us. We did make it safely home and when we and the weather outside dried up we went back out for another appointment and on the way back, the rain came again and the same hard rain came at us again haha. It's funny now to think about but at the time we were just thinking "really?!"
With the new transfer, new companion, thankfully same area, Elder Lewis and I wanted to make some plans and goals for the upcoming 6 weeks. One of which was to search for and find 5 potential priesthood holders and their families. We were excited and really kicked off this weekend well. That same day we set that goal we had a guy sent by our landlady to put in an ac unit. It was the end of the day and we were playing some dominoes and after talking with him while he set up the AC, Elder Lewis challenged him to a quick game. The challenge was if one of us won, he would listen to a message and if he won he would not if he didn't want to. He agreed and Elder Saetre won so we shared a little bit of what we share about the gospel with him. He had some very big questions on his mind for the last few years and is going through some trials right now. He told us that he had no intention of actually playing dominoes when he agreed to the challenge and didn't really think much of the message at first. However he said that it was exactly what he needed to hear and he knew that it was God that led him to stay. It was way cool and it turns out he has a family! Look at that! We had several other people we have met these last few days that have families and all are very interested in learning more so hopefully we can meet with them next week.
So back to the broke phone, we put it in rice and forgot that it was there while using the one phone for all four of us. Big miracle that happened three days after our phone was soaked is that I remembered it was there and we checked and it worked!!! I've never witnessed rice actually working like that so that was very cool and a very needed miracle.
I've realized this is probably a little inadequate for 2 weeks worth of missionary miracles but hopefully the pictures fill in a little bit more of all that's happened. I love you all and hope you're doing well. I was given this scripture to read by a 62 year old man on the road, Isaiah 41:10. Yes there is no other context to that interaction because that is literally all that happened haha.
