I have seen you before, I know you
So we thought this week was going to be a normal work-in-our-area-all-week type of week, but turns out something always comes up, haha. We originally had exchanges with our Zone Leaders next week. Because of changes in their schedule, early Tuesday they let us know that Thursday morning we were being picked up to go to their area. It all worked out and I actually had a great exchange with my ZL, Elder Peterson, in their area.
Now earlier in the week we had a fun interaction with a guy, who we never got the name of, that looked straight at me and said he knew me. I don't remember ever meeting him so I asked where he saw me. He said in Spanish Town. Now I definitely know I have never seen him because I have never been there. However, he was pretty sure he saw me and kept talking to us as we bore our testimonies of the Gospel, gave him our number, and a pamphlet and headed out on our way. We were pretty sure he wasn't all there, but we are still called to preach to all.
On Wednesday we got to go to another part of my area that I have never been to!! It is called Alligator Pond and is a pretty big fishing town. We met with this lady named Ludy (I think I talked about her last week) at her restaurant that is right on the beach! We shared a message in the back where they scaled and gutted fish, haha. It was a good message and hopefully we will meet with her again. It was a long trip out there. We had to leave early in the day and didn't get back until later, so we took a lunch with us and had it on the beach, which was way fun! We talked with a few other people in the area and made our way back home.
Thursday and Friday was our exchange with the Elders in Black River and I got to meet one of the families they are teaching and they are all awesome. There is one little boy that is about 5 and he is the cutest little thing ever. He was sticking around with me because I may have blown his mind with some magic tricks with a bottle cap off the ground, haha. One thing that I learned from Elder Peterson is to set more specific goals. Goal setting is something that will greatly increase your growth on the mission and in life. Set specific goals that you can reach within the week that build towards larger and long term goals. When you can do this you actually begin to see your progress while still stretching yourself.
Saturday and Sunday became more of contacting days to prepare for next week's lessons and how we can continue to help the people in Junction. The work is hard but there is nothing I would rather be doing. Getting to see the growth of those around me and in myself has been amazing and I can't wait to continue to do so.
Hope everyone at home is doing well and let me know how you are doing? If anyone has any questions about what it is like to be a missionary out here just ask and I will get back next week, Monday! Email is jensen.brody@missionary.org
Love you all and wish you the best!
