Croc 🐊

So last Monday was our Zone P Day for the month, which means that it is the one day that we can meet up with all of the other missionaries in our zone and plan something fun to do. Sometimes with these activities, President Odonkor, our mission President, and his assistants join the missionaries. So our plan for Monday with the zone was to go to this Crocodile Safari in Black River area! Then President and the APs decided to join us and paid for the Safari and lunch afterwards as well! It was so cool and I didn't even know there were Crocodiles in Jamaica. We all got on this Safari boat and got to ride down the Black River and see all of these Crocodiles swimming around. There was around 4-5 that we saw out there, the largest being 7 feet long. The boat driver said that the biggest one in in river is about 16 feet! Wow! Then after the Safari we went to Las Vegas Cafe and I got myself some jerk fish. Now when I say fish, it was a fish, straight up! It took me by surprise at first but was still just as good as I thought it would be. It was a fun day to see everyone in the zone but after that it was back to work.

I believe this week we are just starting to be able to see real progression from all of our work these last few weeks. I say this because we have way more people we are teaching that are actually wanting to read from the Book of Mormon! It is so cool seeing the difference reading the Book of Mormon makes in people's desire to learn more. Most of our lessons now are being taught with the Book of Mormon and the guidance being given is so prevalent for both us, the missionaries, and those we are teaching.

We also have continued to bring local members of the church into our lessons and God continues to bless our efforts! The first one I am thinking of is our new friend Mikel. We found him 2 weeks ago but had to wait until this last week to meet with him because of schedules. He is a cool dude! He was just so friendly with us and invited us to come in and we taught him about the restoration of the church. He liked everything about it but it really hit him when we called Brother Collins to share his testimony of what we taught and they started talking about people they actually both knew, one of which was a Brother Bernard Thomas. Brother Collins asked Mikel if he would believe him if Brother Thomas was actually with him at that moment. Mikel said there was no way! Or in Patwah "A lie ya tell!" Then Brother Thomas got the phone and started talking with Mikel! Mikel couldn't believe Brother Thomas was there and he was baptized! While that happened Elder Knight and I were just sitting on the couch having no idea this would happen 😄.

Later that week we actually planned to stop by Brother Thomas's house to teach some of his other friends. After we already taxied there, it started to rain on us and our 2 lessons cancelled. Brother Thomas was there waiting for us so we waited under the tin roof of an old shop and taught one of our cancelled lessons over the phone. With nothing else to do while we waited for another taxi to drive back we talked with Brother Thomas and got to know him a lot better. We ended up being there for another hour or so until a taxi came and we got back home.

We are slowly shifting to more in person lessons instead of over the phone because face to face is so much better, haha. I said earlier that we are just starting to see progress. That is true but I think it is more so that we are now able to see how far we have come. The scriptures say that it is "...by small and simple things are great things brought to pass..." Alma 37:6. I know great things will happen as we continue to be diligent in our efforts, not only in missionary work, but in all things.

So be diligent, and send it for the Lord! Love you all!
