Trainee Training!!!

We got transfer news for the next transfer and Elder McBride is going to be training! It was a surprise but he is a lot more ready than he thinks. I am getting transferred to Montego Bay which is the last corner of Jamaica that I have yet to touch! I'm really sad to be leaving Port Antonio so soon but I am excited for everything that will be so new!

This week we have been meeting with members, either reteaching them the missionary lessons or teaching them how to love, share, and invite. A lot of our lessons with members have gone really really well! With some there has been such an excitement to do missionary work and others have felt the Spirit testify to them truths they may have forgotten. We almost had a hurricane so a lot of lessons were canceled but prayers were answered as the hurricane avoided Jamaica.

 

Another highlight was getting to see mom and dad! Snuck up on them on Friday and offered them a Book of Mormon, sadly they didn't accept it but they were excited to see me, haha. They came to church on Sunday and then took us to lunch on Monday! It was really good to see them but it is hard saying bye again of course. However, I am grateful for the chance I have gotten. I love my family so much and it doesn't make sense to leave them for 2 years to serve a mission! But as much as I love my family and want to stay with them, I love my Savior and I know this is what he wants of me.

Tuesday we had a mission leadership meeting and it went well, took a lot from it. We got pulled from our area early Monday morning to go to Kingston, to stay the night, and then have the meeting the next day... that was a little annoying but we managed and got fed. 😋  Ok, now imagine you're working hard in a new area, trying to get used to all of the newness and  different circumstances. You love playing ping pong in the mornings and also being with the new friends you are making and then you get news that you're going back?... Back? Back where?... Back to Maypen!.. Wait, what!? Yep, I am back in Maypen. That was my last area 2 weeks ago and I took Elder Wilson with me. There have been 4 sisters there and they are going to replace us in Mandeville. The weirdest thing is that this is only for 9 days, so by next Monday, most likely, we will be back in Mandeville. Dang it gets chaotic sometimes 😅. Another week in Mandeville

This week was pretty eventful! One evening we had a member who recently returned from a mission join us in our companionship study, which me and my companion have every evening, and we did teaching role plays with him. Haha, missionaries are pretty familiar with roleplays and usually are not fond of them. It was fun with him, though, and we learned a lot! That same member also brought a friend to church! We were pretty excited to teach her after church and, oh boy, did she have questions to ask and then her own answers to give to every one. I had begun to question a bit what  her purpose of asking those questions was, but we just listened and tried to really understand where she is at with her conversion and relationship with God. We are hopeful for her!🙏  Here is one of the many things I've learned this week as well. I need to be careful playing sports... Wet and cool Mandeville

Alright well it rains more here in Mandeville than in May Pen so that's been a treat this week! I think just about everyday it's dumped rain and I no longer have a truck to take shelter in. Honestly, it has been a lot of fun and reminds me of past areas and times on my mission.  The Branch here is way fun! We had Friday  night activities and we played football for a bit. I was already sore from walking and then football did me over on the tiredness. I definitely slept well that night. Fun story though was that I slipped in the mud hard but popped back up and got around a kid with the ball and now some of the branch kids call me superman or Messi Jr. I haven't told them I'm actually not good at football yet 🤫 We also have this active, recently returned missionary who went out teaching with us and that was way sweet.
