Grave Diggers
What a week! Looking back I have really grown an appreciation for the gift and power of the priesthood. This week I have given as many blessings as I have so far in the mission. Sometimes we forget how readily available God's help is for us.
A cool miracle happened early in the week where Tony, someone we have been trying to reach out to, ran into us "randomly" as we were walking up a hill because we decided to not wait for a taxi. He ended up offering to give us a ride home when we were done with our appointment because he lives close by. We ended up needing that ride because it was pouring just after our message. We got to ride with Tony and really just got to know him a little more. He is awesome and can't wait to see how things go with him!
Later in the week we got to help with the grave digging for our Elders Quorum president, President Collins. He passed away a couple weeks ago. His family is doing very good and wanted to make sure that they had enough hands to dig the grave and asked us to help. There ended up being a lot of hands there including some members, Brother Collins oldest brother and his sons, and a few others. Now Brother Collins oldest brother is a Rasta. So to dedicate the grave site, he, of-course, got out his bottle of rum and proceeded to sprinkle it all over, having us all rinse our hands with it, and trying to make us take a couple shots. Let's just say I have found that rum does not smell good. I still don't know how it tastes though, so don't worry, haha.
It was a really good week of talking to everyone and teaching the gospel. There are many people in Junction that have the potential to progress and to come to know for themselves if the gospel is true. However, as of now, we are still helping them along and we will see how committed they are to Christ. I absolutely love the people here, but sometimes commitment is a really hard thing.
A lot of my studying has been on recognizing the spirit because of a training Elder Schneider and I will be giving to over 20 other missionaries on Tuesday ... so we will see how that goes! It has been great learning more about how the Spirit can guide us if we can just trust God.
Next week will be exciting with Zone conference and getting transfer news! Until then have a great week and love you all!
