Lots and lots of walking

This week has been a lot of walking, as the title says. With the new transfer, it is a great time to really see what needs to be done for the next 5 to 6 weeks. One thing Elder Schneider and I have found is that we need more people to teach. So that means street contacting!! I have been taking to Elder Schneider to areas I have already been and exploring new areas. Junction is a lot of farm land so that means that there is lots of land and few and far houses. It has been a lot of fun and experience! 

I got to give Elder Schneider a hair cut! It is only my second time giving a hair cut to someone other than myself but he said he likes it, so that means it is good.👍 I also got a call from the Lion Man in Mandeville. He calls himself Lion Man, but his name is Malcom. He makes wood souvenirs and often does it for missionaries. We got his number last week and he called us up and asked what we wanted. I, of course, asked for a wooden nativity! I told him finger size, so around 6 inches or so. We ended up getting wooden figures the size of my two hands... oh well. 

The majority of the week was just meeting new people so we don't know for sure how things will go with them from here but we hope the best! It was also the annual 180th relief society event, which we got to help set up and we were fed afterwards!! It is always a treat to get some good Jamaican dishes. We got some good brown stewed beef and chicken and rice and peas. They also made this fruit drink that was way good! 

One thing that happened this week was that we had an extra transfer mid week so that 6 Elders could make it to the Bahamas!! It was a little crazy because no one knew it was happening this transfer but it is so exciting that things are continuing to progress and reach the places that need the gospel. It really is so cool!! 

Things just continue to move forward and all we can do is make sure we are progressing as well. Not to be a perfectionist but evaluationist. We all have things to work on but if we can evaluate ourselves and the progress we have been making, we can also see things that we can do better tomorrow. That's something I have been working on and have seen blessings from it.

Tuesday we had a mission leadership meeting and it went well, took a lot from it. We got pulled from our area early Monday morning to go to Kingston, to stay the night, and then have the meeting the next day... that was a little annoying but we managed and got fed. 😋  Ok, now imagine you're working hard in a new area, trying to get used to all of the newness and  different circumstances. You love playing ping pong in the mornings and also being with the new friends you are making and then you get news that you're going back?... Back? Back where?... Back to Maypen!.. Wait, what!? Yep, I am back in Maypen. That was my last area 2 weeks ago and I took Elder Wilson with me. There have been 4 sisters there and they are going to replace us in Mandeville. It's cold but I love it!

With this week's email I kind of want to start off with the spoiler of the week. Elder Henrie and I had our first friend baptized this Sunday!! She is awesome and honestly has taught me a lot about what a testimony of and trust in Jesus Christ really is. She truly trusts in him in all that she does and is the most excited person I have ever seen for baptism. She was referred to us last week by some elders in another zone and we are so glad we were given the chance to teach her and prepare her for baptism! That was the highlight haha, here's the rest of the week.  It is so cold! 🥶 And it's not even the worse part yet. Also not much snow either which is a little sad. It just gets very very windy and cold through the winter. With that in mind, we went caroling twice this week! It was actually really fun and cool though. Wet and cool Mandeville

Alright well it rains more here in Mandeville than in May Pen so that's been a treat this week! I think just about everyday it's dumped rain and I no longer have a truck to take shelter in. Honestly, it has been a lot of fun and reminds me of past areas and times on my mission.  The Branch here is way fun! We had Friday  night activities and we played football for a bit. I was already sore from walking and then football did me over on the tiredness. I definitely slept well that night. Fun story though was that I slipped in the mud hard but popped back up and got around a kid with the ball and now some of the branch kids call me superman or Messi Jr. I haven't told them I'm actually not good at football yet 🤫 We also have this active, recently returned missionary who went out teaching with us and that was way sweet.
